I do not condone violence but cathartic rage has its place in art.

Margaret Cho, a three-time Grammy and Emmy nominated comedian gave an exclusive interview in PerezHilton about the release of her new video I Want To Kill My Rapist.

I believe if you have been sexually abused, you must ‘murder’ your rapist in your mind. Abuse leads to self abuse, drug addiction, depression, eating disorders, suicide. I want to kill it before it kills me. I’m grateful to all the incredible artists who went into the creation of this song and video, especially the young people who lent their fierce fighting talents. I can see already that kids are building a better world than the one we are currently in.

Rape is still considered a taboo subject and Margaret is trying to ignite conversation about sexual abuse with this amazing video that shows her taking back the power that was stolen from her and uplifting girls and women in the process.

The metaphor of killing her perpetrator allows her to move forward and heal from this traumatic experience. Cho talks about the sexual abuse and rape that she experienced from the time she was five until she was 12 in Salon and Billboard.

I’m a victim and now a survivor of sexual abuse and rape, and I think it’s really hard to talk about it. I think having a song to perform live will allow others to talk about it. It’s a huge issue, and this was cathartic for me.

It is available on iTunes . Check out Margaret Cho: psyCHO on Showtime.

Thanks for speaking up and empowering me and many other people. It is so inspiring to see a person take back their power and create an incredible song.
You are a true hero…at least for me. Can I give you a Perfect Reject?
