Laverne Cox, the star of “Orange Is The New Black”  has a fantastic way of dealing with her flaws, and is an inspiration for many. At the 2015 Billboard Music Awards, in an interview with Giuliana Rancic, Cox explains that while she is comfortable with her looks, she can be pretty critical of herself, too.

In that nitpickiness, I also try to celebrate myself and love myself. In every moment, even if I find a flaw, I have to love that flaw today, she said.

… we have to embrace what we think are flaws, what we think are imperfections … it’s about loving yourself.

This April, Cox was just named one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People.

I honestly just want to make myself happy most, and if other people like it, then that’s great, she says. If they don’t, then I’m still happy.

When Cox was approached by Allure about doing a nude photo shoot for its May issue she initially turned them down.

But I’m a black transgender woman. I felt this could be really powerful for the communities that I represent.

Black women are not often told that we’re beautiful unless we align with certain standards,” she continues. “Trans women certainly are not told we’re beautiful. Seeing a black transgender woman embracing and loving everything about herself might be inspiring to some other folks. There’s beauty in the things we think are imperfect. That sounds very cliché, but it’s true.

Laverne Cox celebrates difference and individuality in the most glorious way.

BE Different

BE Weird

BE Happy

I have to love that flaw today. ~Laverne Cox
